Someone hired Watson, the Jeopardy! computer | Nerve.com: "In terrible news for any human hoping to remain non-obsolete on the job market, Watson, the supercomputer that slayed on Jeopardy!, has been hired by a health insurance company.
WellPoint plans to use the IBM computer as a medical resource, using its vast search capabilities to suggest possible treatments and diagnoses to doctors, as well as nurses reviewing their treatment requests.
I guess Watson's capability to embarrass Ken Jennings review 200 million pages of information in three seconds would come in handy (not every doctor is Dr. House; maybe they could use the help or something), but I can't shake the feeling that Watson getting a job offer spells the beginning of the end of my life as an employed person."
