Upcoming Remakes No One Asked For - Movies Feature at IGN

Upcoming Remakes No One Asked For - Movies Feature at IGN: "There once was a time, long ago, when the Hollywood system would come up with brand new ideas for genre films. This time has unfortunately passed, and it's starting to feel like all we have to look forward to is a crop of regurgitated plot lines from movies that are either already sitting on our shelves, or are available within minutes via on-demand services.

Don't get me wrong, there are classic films that are actually remakes themselves, like John Carpenter's The Thing and Brian De Palma's Scarface, though at least these were remakes of extremely old films, and were significantly different in their approaches to the material. Some films in the current line-up of remakes however, only date back to the mid '90s! At this rate, we'll probably be talking about remakes of Fight Club and The Matrix in a few years. When does it end? "

Poisonous Rhinos Discourage Poachers : Discovery News

Poisonous Rhinos Discourage Poachers : Discovery News: "BLOG: Radioactive Boars Increasing in Numbers

The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve in Krugersdorp, north of Johannesburg, South Africa, discovered that a medical mixture used to kill parasites on the rhinos also made their horns toxic to humans. The AFP recently reported on this new tool in the fight to protect wildlife.

The treatment helps the health of the horn-heads by preventing parasites, but causes convulsions and headaches in any human who partakes in a rhino horn home remedy. Rhino horn is made of keratin, the same material as fingernails and hair, and prized in parts of Asia an an aphrodisiac and for other medicines.

The mixture also contains a dye that makes the horns glow neon pink in an airport scanner, even when ground into powder."

Other 'Star Wars' Blu-Ray Changes George Lucas Could Make (PICTURES)

Other 'Star Wars' Blu-Ray Changes George Lucas Could Make (PICTURES): "If you've felt nerd rage in the air, you're not crazy. George Lucas, on the other hand, may in fact be, according to the very nerds outraged that he's tampering with the original "Star Wars" trilogy for the third time since they were released.

For instance, Lucasfilm confirmed to The New York Times that passed-around footage of Darth Vader shouting "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" while heaving Emperor Palpatine into a shaft at the end of "Return of the Jedi" is an authentic clip from the upcoming Blu-Ray release, which will see updated versions of all six "Star Wars" films as well as hundreds of hours of bonus footage.

"Star Wars" fans have made no secret of their displeasure in how Lucas has chosen to adjust the storied sci-fi franchise. For grievances such as Greedo shooting first at Han Solo, to Hayden Christensen appearing at the end of "Return of the Jedi," resentment of George Lucas has been almost synonymous with being a fan of the original "Star Wars" trilogy. Paul Wall Arrested For Weed Possession In El Paso | Prefixmag

Paul Wall Arrested For Weed Possession In El Paso | Prefixmag: "Sometime rapper/gold teeth craftsman Paul Wall was arrested this weekend in El Paso for possession of marijuana. Wall was in town to perform for Summer Jam 2011, and was arrested with Baby Bash in a "drug-free zone" which seems sort of foolhearty for Wall. He and Baby Bash were released on a $300 bond Sunday, and they tweeted the above photo of them in the back of a police car. It doesn't seem like the two will be in super serious trouble, but the troubles of Gucci Mane have taught us that these sort of charges pile up and you can do extra time. [Rap Radar] "
